First Birthday Celebrations!
A cake smash is a fantastic way to celebrate baby's special milestone.
When I mention a cake smash to my newborn clients they don’t always know what i’m talking about, so here is a little info and what to expect….
What is a cake smash?
Ok guys…. Its totally as it sounds! Bring baby in and let them get messy and experience cake in the best way! I capture this milestone so you have beautiful memories that last forever.
Timing. This is very important. Baby is best just after having a nap, they may also nap in the car so please think about this when booking your session. Think of their routine and when they are most happy. I always do my bast to work around baby, I would rather they be happy and settled than pull them out of their routine.
We start off the session with some beautiful CLEAN portraits, we have a giant number 1 that is always a winner. If baby is just learning to stand up they can hold on or we play peek a boo if still sitting. We capture those gorgeous smiles and one or two teeth that are starting to peek through. I do have a few outfits but you are welcome to bring baby is something you have for them. Once we are done we bring out the cake!
I design the set according to your colour and theme choice. We’ve had everything from jungle to flamingos! All ideas welcome.
Baby then gets changed into something we don’t mind getting messy, I have lots of things already at the studio for baby to wear, but again if you have bought something specific then please bring it along.
We then dive straight in! For some babies its their first time tasting cake, this is a fantastic moment to capture. All my cakes are made with love & cater to all food allergies, so please let me know prior to booking. They almost look too good to eat! If there is lots left over you can take it home with you!
I also offer other types of ‘smashes’ too. For example, babies who are not too fond of cake, we have done a fruit smash.
Parent tip - Come dressed in clothes you don’t mind getting messy because baby will most likely want a hug at some point and they’ll come straight for you!
Once baby is done with the cake its time to get cleaned up! We have 3, yes THREE different bath tubs for you to choose from at the studio. We have a great time Splashing around with the rubber ducks. We even blow lots of bubbles to try and pop!
I supply the towels for baby to get dry, but again if you would prefer to bring your own that’s fine too.
Most people book in advance, usually 4/5 months so you can secure their birthday weekend.
When to reschedule - If your baby is ill, raised temperature etc, or suffering from teething for example they will not be at their happiest. You should let me know at least 48 hours prior to your session in as my cakes and setups are costly. We can usually reschedule in a couple of days and baby will be much happier.
Extra people for example siblings can be very distracting to baby, so I suggest 2 adults maximum however if you would like siblings to join in then they are most welcome. Please let me know if you are bring siblings at time of booking.
A £99 session fee is payable in order to secure your booking. This comes off your chosen package. After your cake smash you will then be invited back to the studio to view your images and chose your package.
